Closing the Equity Gap Through Education, Entrepreneurship and Employment
Collaboration is at the heart of the GlobalMindED conference - among educators, entrepreneurs and business leaders, policymakers in government and nonprofits, and first-generation college students themselves. Hundreds of dedicated professionals and students will come together to learn from world famous keynote speakers and take part in breakout sessions that target educational change. They will share what has worked in classrooms throughout the country and come away with ways to craft innovative approaches in different settings.
Most importantly, they will talk with each other – and build on one another’s successes as they grapple with preparing today’s first generation students for tomorrow’s workforce. GlobalMindED is about having a collective impact on students who want to succeed at a time when our country needs them to succeed.
When: June 9-11, 2018
Where: Sheraton Denver Downtown - 1550 Court Place, Denver, CO 80202
At GlobalMindED, we have core values that support our belief that a healthy education system breeds strong students, passionate individuals, valued educators, and a booming economy:
Improve Creativity, Innovation, and Risk in Classroom and Career
If we excite students and graduates to move out of their learning comfort zones, to push themselves harder to develop essential soft and hard career skills, to become adaptive and strategic thinkers who embrace change, they will be ready for the professional world regardless of where they went to college or which career move they make first. Cultivating these skills will prepare students for success in the global marketplace.
Shift Learning Paradigms and Flip Classrooms
Today, students have the power to teach themselves. To motivate and inspire students, faculty must be both teacher and coach. They must facilitate a class by providing ample opportunity for students to prepare in advance and come to class ready to deepen their learning by working in pairs, triads, and groups. GlobalMindED will present sessions using the flipped-classroom model where attendees prepare ahead of time to encourage engagement, interactivity, and problem solving during the session.
Make Collaborative Connections with People from Around the World
Questioning, collaborating, connecting, sharing insights about successes and failures, and building better ideas and models define the GlobalMindED conference environment.
At GlobalMindED, networks for personal and professional growth are born and nurtured.
