Praful grew up in an Indian village without electricity and running water. After high school, he came to New York City for college where he obtained his B.S. in Chemistry. He obtained his MBA degree in the evening program while working at Pfizer. He went on to obtain his PhD in Pharmaceutics. He spent over thirty years as a scientist and an executive in research and development of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies. Since his retirement in 2007, he has been an entrepreneur and a successful private investor in Boulder area focused mainly on social impact companies.
He has invested in fifty startup companies including Agora, Aunt Bertha, BhaktiChai, P2Bi, PharmaJet, Primatemp, Revolar and TeamSnap. Praful invests in companies that blend improving the lives of people, society and significant financial returns. He is forever grateful to all the people and organizations that helped him achieve his potential beyond imagination; and that is what he wants to do for others. He is a strong believer in good karma and its multiplying effect. His passion is to alleviate poverty of all kind (especially ignorance) and provide richness to lives. He has been married to Karen for over 35 years. They enjoy outdoor lifestyle of Boulder as well as traveling.
